    The "Richest Problogger" in Singapore

I have been getting sooo many questions about this that I finally decided to just make a post and answer everyone in one go.

Just a short while back, a Singaporean blogger (whom I would refrain from naming) came up to claim on his blog that he is indeed the richest problogger in Singapore and had just bought himself a brand new Subaru STI with the money he earned from blogging.

Lengmoupedia: A problogger is someone who blogs for a living.

After reading that, many people got carried away and came up to me asking

"OMG OMG HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU EARN JUST FROM THIS BLOG BOSS STEWIE?!?! YOU MUST BE SO RICH YOU LUCKY BASTARD! WHY DO YOU CONTINUE STUDYING/WORKING?!?"

So I will try to answer that right now as well as I can.

Now I would estimate that this problogger's blog has about an average of 100-150 visits a day (or maybe even less) and definitely not more than 200.

I am pretty sure about this because as some of you might know, I have another website that has a higher Alexa ranking than his blog's Alexa ranking of 836,688 (but was previously at over 2 million).
Lengmoupedia: Alexa traffic ranking is a pretty accurate guide that tells you which websites get more traffic than others; the lower the number the better. I think they only take up to the top 6,000,000 so if your ranking doesn't come up on Alexa, it means your site is either still new or its ranking is lower than 6,000,000.

    Example:

www.thestar.com.my has an Alexa ranking of 2,429

www.tuitionhamster.com has an Alexa ranking of 645,051

www.thecicak.com has an Alexa ranking of 5,632,554

Also, the only form of revenue this blogger has on his blog is pay-per-click google ads but he does claim to have another million imaginary blogs with "affiliate programs" that earn him much more.

Nobody has seen any proof that these other websites/blogs of his ever existed so lets just assume for now that he doesn't have any of those (and also assume that he doesn't get involved in any kind of click fraud).

Now don't you all start judging him now! It's perfectly normal to have imaginary friends/things! Russell Crowe had his imaginary little girl in A Beautiful Mind,

some children have their imaginary purple dinosaur friend

and some people have imaginary money-making blogs.

Ok moving on... I don't want to spend this post trying to figure out whether he's telling the truth or not because honestly, its none of our business.

What I want to show everyone is that blogs don't make as much money as people think they do. Leng Mou? has received an average of 743 unique visits a day as can be seen from this screenshot I took of our site stats yesterday.

Now my guess is, if this keeps up, Leng Mou? will earn about RM80 this month from Google Adsense.

(I would love to show you my adsense stats but that's against the Adsense Terms of Service.)

So do the math.... assuming I make RM80 every month (which is quite a strong assumption because readership can go up but can ALSO go DOWN sometimes), that would mean I make... RM20 a WEEK which is how much a big family spends on toilet paper every week.

What this also means is that I can blog for 10 years and I won't even be able to afford a Perodua Kancil let alone a Subaru STI.

Please also don't forget that Leng Mou? has only been around for 4 months or so and we are therefore hardly seeing any of this...

So the answer to your question is: "Boss Stewie/Lepton hardly make any money from Leng Mou? The blog started out for fun and it is meant to be all about fun."

Of course, I would love to lie to all of you and say that I made it rich from this blog and just bought myself an island in the Caribbean where I would be taking my many girlfriends next month
but then I would go to Hell, and Hell is too hot for my liking.

Blogging for a living could make you a decent living, but I doubt it would make you really rich. Therefore, in the mean time I wouldn't give up my day job of selling bananas.

SELL BANANAS!!! SELL SELL SELL !!! Who knows.. one day you may be the rich banana tycoon that everyone calls... THE BANANA KING

So... do you guys think this guy truly is the "Richest Problogger" in Singapore? Well.. the truth is we'll never know for sure.. and if he says he is... then maybe he is. There is no real reason to doubt him is there?

But if we doubt him and one day he proves to us that it's true. We should then all take turns to tongue his balls for being such a sucessful problogger.

Yet, this guy somehow kinda reminds me of someone.... hmmm someone like... hmm...

    • Yah I agree, I saw this guys posts, complete BS.

Also I disagree with Alexa ranking, it's a reasonable ranking, but only lamers have the Alexa toolbar installed, so for tech sites it tends to give lower results.

    • You know what Boss Stewie and Boss Lepton? You guys might make more money by selling Leng Mou's t-shirt.

*pay some commission for my idea ok?*

Oh btw, Subaru Impreza are pretty much the "national" car of Singapore (u can see it everywhere there), STi or not. So blerrghh...people can get Ferrari or fully-modded Ford Focus by playing video games, so this should be nothing.

By Blogger Wingz, at March 03, 2006 5:09 PM

    • yeah i know... his alexa ranking increased cuz liew cf was naive enough to believe him and featured him on his blog which resulted in an inflow of traffic to his blog that nobody before visits.

which is another reason why i'm not linking to him or giving out his url

    • stewie..I would really want to know more about the guy in the last picture..He seemed very famous back awhile ago!!His supposedly to be the worlds richest man if what he says is true!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at March 04, 2006 8:04 PM

    • hahaha no he's not the world's richest man.. the a conman

By Blogger Boss Stewie, at March 04, 2006 8:58 PM

    • yeah that guy is a joke. And the really ironic thing is, ALL the papers in Malaysia featured him on the FRONT PAGE. Even the President of the Cancer Society said that he believed this guy would be donating RM1billion.

How unbelievably stupid is our newspapers and people running our charities?

Now, not a single mention of him any more to say he was a conman. None of them admit they are stupid enough to believe him!
